The Site Reclaimed

Near the Old Hotel
A campground over familiar ground
Dan discovers that the True Knot’s Bluebell base occupies the landscape around the former Overlook. The lodge and campground have replaced parts of the hotel’s domain.
A place charged with memory
He recognizes that the location links childhood fear to the present hunt. The old evil is not simply preserved in ruins; it has found a new organization and new victims.
The Mannequin Decoy

A False Target
Billy’s disguise
Billy parks at the visitor lot with a mannequin dressed to resemble Abra. From the platform, Rose mistakes the decoy for the girl and watches Billy perform a deliberately conspicuous distraction.
Entry under cover
While Rose looks outward, Dan and Abra reach the Lodge unseen. The misdirection buys them the few minutes needed to reach the assembled True Knot.
Concetta’s Last Gift

Steam Turned Against Its Owners
A willing exchange
Dan releases the last gasp Concetta gave him before her death. The red mist forms her presence briefly as Abra recognizes the great-grandmother she has lost.
The predators consume poison
Dan directs the mist toward the True Knot, whose members inhale it and begin cycling. Their dependence on steam becomes the means of their destruction.
The Escape from Rage

Rose Attacks the Mind
A return to childhood
Rose forces Dan into a memory shaped by his worst guilt and anger, making him believe he is choking Abra. His inherited fear of becoming his father turns against him.
Abra restores the truth
Abra identifies Rose’s manipulation and helps Dan stop. Their alliance survives the assault because Dan can recognize the difference between his own anger and the rage imposed on him.
The Last Fall

The End of Rose
One final attempt
Rose uses her remaining strength to push Dan toward self-strangulation and prepares to exploit Abra’s brief absence. A dead revenant confronts Silent Sarey in the shed, removing Rose’s hidden accomplice.
Two against one
Abra returns and joins Dan in pushing Rose over the railing. The True Knot ends with its leader, and Dan burns her hat so it cannot remain as a relic of power.
